• After much research, I decided to buy a Pavilion DV7-3065DX. Then, I walked to my local Best Buy to say the 3065DX had been abandoned and was no longer available for purchase. However, the 3165DX, his successor had arrived and was very similar to the previous generation. After a brief discussion to justify the increase of prices with myself, I gave and was sold.

  Within hours, I was in College, trying to connect to the WiFi network without success. After several hours becoming more and more frustrated, I decided to call it closes unexpectedly. To my surprise, it worked! (And no problem whatsoever no less). So, apparently, the wireless adapter works, but does so only on some networks.

  A week later, I tried to connect to a number of public and private WiFi networks of different types with limited success. Most importantly, I am able to connect to my home network, but not to the public networks in my college or city libraries. At one point, the Office for my college indicated that my WiFi adapter is one of a handful of cards on the list of incompatible devices to their network. As it was to buy the laptop in the first place, I am extremely frustrated.

  I turned to the support pages of HP for a solution. I considered a update driver despite the use of the HP Wizard to keep abreast on all software downloads and updates. To my dismay, product for the Pavilion DV7-3165DX page lists of Broadcom WiFi adapter, which does not correspond to my hardware (Atheros AR9285). What's worse, is that the manufacturer's website offers no driver downloads to customers that its site is adapted directly to product manufacturers.

  At this point, I'm increased and not sure what to do. I am already attached to this laptop. Apart from the war with his fingerprints on its black and shiny chrome surfaces shiny, the problem with the Atheros WiFi card is the only problem that I had. I hate having to go through the ordeal to return, and I do not think that this problem requires the sending of the product to HP for repair. Furthermore, I believe that if it came down to one of those, I simply return the product and find my way to another product by other manufacturers in total.

  I have the same question... However with me the solution wasn't in the pilot. I spent 3 hours on the phone with technical support, try to understand.

  What it comes down to say that Atheros AR 9285 is a shi * ty wireless card. It supports 802.11n Protocol, but only 2.4 GHz (the same as the b/g frequencies). My Cysco wireless router was broadcasting 5 GHz Wireless-N and AR 9285 was not able to detect it. Once I changed the router settings to allow 2.4 GHz Wireless-N Networking, the Atheros card was able to connect under the Protocol N. However, the maximum speeds of 2.4 GHz card are slower than 5 GHz card.

  I wish they would give an option to choose what wireless card to install in my laptop. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I'm always done what they me screwed on.

  As my Satellite M30-642 does not offer a modular Bay for the installed switches and I have a DVD burner for USB that I can use I think try an experiment: withdrawal of the DVD drive and replace it with an extra HDD/SSD.

  As SSDS are very light, have no moving parts and does not necessarily need screws to be installed and the slot DVD brings the IDE and this could work to power connector. The DSS must be placed inside an old and updated the slimline cd-rom so that the change is not visible and the laptop is safe from dust etc.

  Has anyone tried something like this before? Are there solutions to buy for Sat M30 (2004 vintage)?

  As far as I know the Sat M30 doesn t support the slim select Bay and, therefore you cannot use this adapter instead of the CD/DVD drive.

  The link (atheros.cz) you provided has the same problem. However, I found solutionon the below mentioned link. He was the pilot I needed and it worked! No both my cable and internet connections don't work.

  SOLUTION: Downloaded the driverscape.com driver, double-click to open, double-click on the appliction of installation file, select the option repair the installation, and then follow the prompts. Restart the computer after installation. Mine worked.

• On March 23, 2015 I finally switched from DSL to Time Warner Cable and the technician who came with us to install it settle on 5 GHz and it worked very well. However, our iPhones and iPad would not connect at 5 GHz, so in went into their chat room and of the technician TWC changed something on my laptop, then the two seems to work fine so far here. Then the next day I couldn't connect the my other devices to 5 GHz and everything worked fine again. Starting yesterday afternoon, only the 2.4 GHz shows on my PC screen and automatically connected to it, but the 5 GHZ does not at all appear. I spent an hour on the phone with a TWC technician who check the router several times trying it to make it work on my PC but it still does not even show up. Our other devices are always connected to the range of 5 GHz so the technician specific TWC that my HP laptop does not have a 5 GHz adapter. That is my question. Is my laptop has a 5 GHz network card?

  I have read several messages from the HP Forum and tried a lot of things, including the installation of various updates driver later thanks to the version 10.0.0.222, but I still can't the driver to connect to the Internet.   I'd go with the latest driver HP vice one from another source.

  The only time wherever I go outside HP for wireless network drivers is if you have an Intel wireless card.

  My recommendation is to use the free MS Security Essentials antivirus/antispyware, which never interfere with how 'things important works' on your PC, such as network connections.

  Your router with a hardware firewall and a software firewall Windows. I don't see the importance of adding other firewalls.

  Unless you have a lot of albums secret info on your PC that pirates would like to get my hands on, these fully functional security roadblocks are adequate for most of us.

  I have a HP Probook 4530 s (XU018UT) and seem to have a problem with the Atheros card wifi/bluetooth combo is preinstalled. When bluetooth is not in use, it works perfectly, however, when you use bluetooth to my helmet, my internet connection speed falls and becomes unbareable, I also updated the drivers to the latest via HP support assistant download

  Then I bought a wifi/bluetooth card from Intel Centrino Advanced - N 6230 from HP parts store. I swapped for the new Intel one Atheros card and have no problem of speed, my only complaint with the Intel card is that the pairing is slow and my bluetooth headset connect automatically when it is turned on, as it did when installing Atheros card

  I contacted Intel directly and they told me that the Intel card, I had maybe isn't compatible for my laptop and that it could still be Atheros drivers/programs installed that interfere with the operation of the Intel card and that's why I have the problem with my helmet and it is better to have the card Atheros OEM reinstalled.

  I currently have the Intel card installed.

  I prefer the Intel on only the Atheros card due to this being dual-band, but when it comes down to it, I'd be happy with each card installed as long as I have no bluetooth or internet connection problems slow downs.

It's a start and only time will tell... but from the bed, it should work very well the upgrade, and since no two computers are the same so the problem so will.

  Unfortunately the Ralink BT 3.0 or earlier version of hardware does not work in 8.1, W8 and W10.

  Ralink cards with hardware version 4.0 BT have supported for these operating systems.

  If you want internal bluetooth, you will need to replace the Board with one of those enrolled in the service manual wireless.

  The only other wlan supported with BT that I see listed is this one...

  WiFi 802.11b/g/n 1 x 1 Broadcom 2070 Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR Combo adapter and 4313 - reference HP 600370-00.

  I believe that the bluetooth radio and model wireless card will work on W10, but I can't say 100% for sure.

  This feature is not available in the BIOS via the BIOS updates published for your laptop. I have not heard of any project to make available.

  Cannot use the biometric Windows logon for reader - although this feature is natively built on this version.

  Problem solved by using the procedure described on this site:

  The biometric reader now appears as 'validity sensors (WBF) (PID = 003f)' to the title of the type 'Biometric devices' in Device Manager and fingerprint menu configuration is available as a connection option in the menu account management.

  Note: I installed the driver manually the file wbf_vfs_003f.inf.

  More than likely HP won't to material support for W8 on any system purchased before October 1, 2011. Some updates for W8, most drivers W7 will work in W8.
  If you don't have not upgraded to Windows 8 again, you can run the software upgrade wizard, it will scan your PC and report on what is currently installed on your PC is compatible with the W8.

  I installed WIndows 7 x 64 fresh on my laptop (not on the recovery disc). After installing, I ran driver following HP package files, I already had on my laptop. sp53796 and sp56282. My audio and video drivers are installed ok. But I get always wifi and USB. So, I can't connect to the Internet and download the drivers. Can someone guide me please to the driver for wifi and USB? Or a driver package, which would be to install all the necessary drivers?

  You should be able to... Just make sure that connect you cable ethernet so W10 is activated before the deadline.

  I recommend that you get the Intel Centrino® Advanced-N 6230 wireless network card... HP 636672-001 part number, in Chapter 3, page 25 of the maintenance manual. It is the only card I see on the list that should work on W10.

  NOTE: You MUST get this specific map and it MUST have the part number HP on it or it won't work.

  Usually, I'll question asked by HP part number on eBay, and buy a card which shows the part number in the photograph of eBay listing.

  But an easier thing to do would be to make the W10, installation DVD using the tool of creation of media on the link below, run the upgrade from the windows desktop, select do not automatically check updates and W10 ignores any material control install card atheros in place.

  I doubt that the atheros card works after W10 is installed, but you shouldn't remove it just to install W10.

  There is a W10 driver for this card but I find the hardware version of the card that your laptop is too old to work with the driver.

• I just bought a HP Probook G1, intel i7 650 - 4600 m, system BIOS 01.34-08/28/2015, keyboard review KBC 16.3 C version.

  ESC and F1 through F12 function keys seem to be in the Mode of action key (for example flight gives HP, F6 system information allows you to change the audio levels, etc.)- and I prefer to keep the standard functions of these keys (for shortcuts in Word and Excel, also for Express Scribe transcription software).

  I found Ctrl + Fn + the function key corresponding is workaround to achieve some (but not all) the standard functions - but which is cumbersome when used frequently. Workaround doesn't seem to work for the ESC key.

  I saw a few tips on how to disable the Mode keys on some laptops HP - eg

  - and I have used this method on the previous laptop HP (e.g. Pavilion G6), but it does not work for this Probook. The configuration screen of the BIOS on my new machine does not seem to show the key Action Mode (or same System Configuration) as an option.

  I would be grateful for suggestions.

  Problem is now resolved, thanks to HP Technical Support phone line. Their tips were:

  * go to the BIOS Setup in the usual way (shut down, then power on, press ESC, choose F10 for Bios configuration)

  * Choose the Information System

  * arrow above to advance

  * Choose the Configuration of the device

  * Uncheck the Fn key switch

  * Save, etc.

  The corresponding option is more referred to Action Mode button for this model of HP laptop, at least not for the version of BIOS this Probook 650 G1 (worm 1.36, 25/04/2016).
